When an owl attacks her mother, a young bat lands in a nest of baby birds and her whole world turns upside down – literally!
The birds' mother agrees to adopt this strange creature, but insists that Stellaluna act like a bird, not a bat! In spite of her instincts, she agrees to try her best and learns to hang by her feet and starts eating bugs instead of fruit!
But it isn’t easy being different and when she finally has the opportunity to show her bird siblings her true strengths, they gain a new-found respect and acceptance for their new sister on her terms.
